Automation Technician

Madison Heights, MI 48071

Employment Type: Direct Hire Category: Manufacturing Pay Rate Range: $25 - $33 Per Hour

Job Description

We are searching for multiple Automation Technicians for direct hire opportunities in the Madison Heights, MI area.  You will be responsible for providing technical support, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment.  
 
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot automated equipment failures to determine necessary upgrades and repairs
  • Read and understand equipment manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics
  • Documentation of the activities carried out and the results of the work
  • Work with Controls and Manufacturing Engineers to develop equipment and controls for new products and improve existing equipment (cycle time, scrap reduction, improved quality, etc.)
  • Perform preventive maintenance as assigned which includes but is not limited to repairing, diagnosing, cleaning, lubricating, upgrading manufacturing and glue dispensing equipment, plasma treat equipment, slide actuators, hoist, conveyors, etc.
  • Provide support to troubleshoot and recover any problem with robots on the production line

Job Requirements

  • Completed vocational training or Associate's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or comparable training preferred
  • At least five (5) years of related experience preferred
  • Professional experience in maintenance and with automated systems, focusing on assembly technology
  • Working knowledge of tools, and devices such as torque guns, volts meters, etc.
  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., PLC, sensors, fuses, contacts, relays) and the ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for repairs and troubleshooting
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic system components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and solenoids.
  • Experience with basic handling of robots from pendant (KUKA preferably)
  • Experience troubleshooting controls circuitry (AC/DC power supplies, relays, motors/servos) is required
  • PLC experience is a plus
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays with on-call availability
  • Familiar with Lock Out Tag Out
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
