Business Development Manager

Novi Township, MI 48375 | Fully Remote

Job Description

We are currently searching for a Business Development Manager with experience in polymer and resin packaging in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and science industries.  This is a fully-remote opportunity with an attractive base salary and bonus structure. You should live somewhere on the East Coast of the U.S. and commutable to a major airport. Travel expectations are about 30%.

Description:

Sales & Development representatives shall maintain and broaden relationships and sales at existing customers, mainly medical device and pharmaceutical, and work proactively to identify and develop strong relationships with potential customers of existing and potential new products. The representative shall drive marketing efforts for these products. Managing existing accounts requires frequent in-person communication and a strong knowledge of product lines related to medical and pharmaceutical markets. To develop new sales accounts, the representative shall coordinate technical support, marketing, and logistics. The representative shall manage pricing at commercial accounts as directed, including pricing globally where indicated.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional support to maintain and grow sales and relationships at existing accounts, including senior leadership at these companies.
  • Develop new business in targeted sectors through individual initiatives.
  • Develop markets for new medical polymer products and product lines, including the creation and execution of marketing plans.
  • Work with customer targets to position and gain approval for resins for their projects for new and or existing applications.
  • Take actions to drive interest in solutions: marketing, website, trade shows, and publications.
  • Identify and bring in internal support as needed to support and close development programs.
  • Develop strong relationships with existing and potential customers and distributors, seeking new opportunities to grow sales.
  • Identify the need for new application development and provide or bring in appropriate resources.
  • Ensure prospects receive adequate technical support from you and our organization.
  • Training and giving presentations to customers and distributors to aid in finding new programs.
  • Understand and communicate customer needs within our organization.
  • Provide regular development updates, resin forecasts, call reports, and monthly reports.
  • Understand pricing and margin scenarios for developmental targets and programs.
  • Execute appropriate pricing actions.
  • Provide market and competitive intelligence to leadership and colleagues.
  • Document all activities in Salesforce.
  • Willing and able to travel by land and air to meet with existing accounts regularly, build prospect relationships and understanding, and provide the necessary support to maintain timelines for commercial sales for development programs.  Expected travel is 30% on the East Coast of the U.S. 
  • Close deals and be prepared either to support new customers or transfer to other reps.

Job Requirements

  • BS degree is required, preferably in engineering, chemistry, polymer, or science-related fields.
  • Experience selling to medical and pharmaceutical manufacturers and OEMs.
  • Experience managing large commercial accounts.
  • Knowledge of engineering plastics and resins.
  • Experience in technical and/or B2B sales.
  • Direct experience at suppliers or manufacturers in medical device or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Distributor relationship experience.
  • Marketing and market publication experience.
  • Salesforce or similar CRM expertise.
