CNC Machinist

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with fabrication experience to join our team working for a major automotive supplier in a research and development lab environment in Auburn Hills.
In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to specifications. This position also involves fabrication work, including welding, metal forming, and assembly, to support various production needs. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of machining and fabrication processes, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes) to produce metal parts according to blueprints, CAD models, and specifications.
- Program CNC machines as required, ensuring optimal efficiency and precision.
- Inspect and measure finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet quality and tolerance standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments to maintain machine performance.
- Assist in fabrication processes, including welding, metal cutting, forming, and assembly, as required by project specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs to guide production and fabrication.
- Ensure safe operation of all equipment and compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members and engineers to improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and resolve production challenges.
- Document work processes, inspections, and any issues encountered during production.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in CNC machining, fabrication, or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a CNC Machinist with a strong background in metal fabrication.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes, including MIG/TIG welding, metal forming, and cutting techniques.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to ensure part accuracy.
- Solid mechanical aptitude, with attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently and within a team to meet production deadlines.
- Knowledge of and commitment to workplace safety protocols.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to loud noise and heavy machinery.
