Job Description
Our client in Novi, Michigan, is currently searching for a Structural Engineer. This is a direct hire opportunity with an engineering consulting company. This position will require time working in the Novi office, travel to offsite locations, and will also allow for a hybrid work-from-home policy after the initial training period.
Position Summary
This position will participate in the engineering and detailing of conveyor equipment, platforms, header steel, and other facility structures.
Responsibility
- Perform structural design calculations (automated and by hand) per applicable codes.
- Preparation of design calculation packages for PE stamping.
- PE stamping of design drawings and calculations for applicable states - Michigan.
- Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties from a structural design perspective and make recommendations.
- Ability to use CAD and work with other engineers and designers in developing system design and support structures.
- Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including the selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Structural) or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with Structural steel design software such as RISA, STAAD, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Inventor.
- Licensed/registered Civil/Structural Professional Engineer in multiple states preferred. Michigan is a requirement.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of LFRS (lateral force-resisting system).
- Perform structural design calculations (automated and by hand) per applicable codes, design & detail checking.
- Preparation of design calculation packages for PE stamping.
- PE stamping of design drawings and calculations for applicable states - Michigan and others preferred.
